Ross, I literally just commented on your other article about my hourly existential crisis and how I "wish" things would just... go straight for once!... And now I stumble across this.
Andrew, very cool you stumbled across my stuff in this moment of need. I hope it helped a little. I am praying for you now. Reach out if you want to chat more.
Beautifully written. You've given form to the tingling thought that's been haunting my brain about the spiritual nature of our devices. I was thinking of them as Tolkien's palantir, but genie may work even better.
Would love to hear more! I just subscribed to your Substack. Love the theme of fatherhood. You might like this post of mine from last week if you haven’t seen it yet: https://www.patientkingdom.com/p/redeeming-our-fathers-and-mothers. Look forward to more dialogue.
Thanks Brandon. Yeah, I’ve been thinking on the spiritual nature of our devices for a while too! I like the image of the palantir quite a lot actually. I’ll have to think on that more. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Great insights, Ross. Thank you. I'm sure my kids will take my grandkids to see Wish. To be honest, I hadn't heard about it. Like you, I have fond memories of Disney movies from my youth in the 60s and 70s, and even a lot of their films when my kids were young in the 90s. But I gave up on Disney when they went woke. Even prior to "woke" I thought their films were disappointing when they conveyed politically correct cultural messages as opposed to timeless truths. They're superficial and saccharine.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Keith! This one actually came out about a year ago, so now it’s on streaming. I agree there hasn’t been much good coming out of Disney in a while, but I’m holding out some small hope. Haha
Just getting caught up on my emails after a busy season. Wow. This might be my favorite piece that you have written thus far!
Aw thanks man. It was one of my favorite to write too.

May God help me...
Please pray for me, bro. 🙏🏻

This was an incredible read. Have not seen this one yet.
Thanks, Eron. That means a lot coming from someone who writes about movies!

I was just opening that, digging deeper into your publication.

You may have just changed my publishing schedule. Not sure I can compete with your prose or depth. 🙂
Congrats on your publication 👏👏👏
Thank you, Ma!
