I found the Proverbs hard to appreciate for years. Then all of a sudden I looked around and saw that I was forty with a son. All this hits differently now.

Same here. It's funny that the Book of Proverbs in Scripture is written for young men, but it feels like sometimes you kinda have to be an old man to appreciate them.

Totally agree

The first one is really bad gospel. It's not Christian. Denying truth to pursue beauty isn't right. So, a Godly woman might have lower status than an OF model just because the latter is more beautiful?? You are also grammatically incorrect btw.

Jordan Gordon's avatar

If you believe that is the beauty he is talking about then you have completely misunderstood. An OF model is inherently not beautiful no matter how "physically attractive" she might look. That physical appearance she embodies is deceptive, as it leads to a twisted reality (sexual immortality etc.) and hence, is not truthful.

This is an oxymoron. If beauty actually is the truth, then you shouldn't deny it. It's a false gospel that the post is suggesting. Truth and Beauty aren't opposites. If a thing is beautifully made, it is truthful. If a thing is truthful, it's beautifully made. You're rejecting God if you reject the Truth. God is Truth. That's

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6.

Read your Bible first before you critique me. What is beautiful if it's not from God? Follow Truth because it's Godly. Beauty can be deceptive. Especially physically.

This is a worthy discussion. I think I should clarify that my meaning was not that one should deny the truth, but rather that one should not become so committed to one of the three transcendentals that they disdain the other two in the process, because (and this is the most important part) the truth you find without beauty will not be as true as you think. I spoke this way, because I spoke the former, because I come from a vein of Christianity that errs on the side of dismissing beauty for truth. But it would be just as true to correct the opposite error: the beauty you find without truth will not be as beautiful as it first appears. I hope that clarified things a little.

I don't think I've ever heard of a three transcendentals concept in the scriptures before coming from a Protestant background.

The attributes of God cannot be measured or even discussed as I think we can be blasphemous towards God in the process.

However, from what I understand, God is Good. That's all we need to know. So, how do we measure His characteristic? I think whatever Produces the fruits is Godly. I see no real fruits or production from dissection of God's attributes or to dissect what is good?

No matter how ugly our sins are, there's always repentence. Repentence is the fruit and the gift of Jesus Christ.

However, I see no real productivity from arguing the attributes to dissect further what is better? Beauty or truth or other attributes?

“By their fruit you will recognize them… Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”

The only thing formularic is to depend on God. Do things that bring Glory to Him. Work in His names. Dissection or over-analysis of these attributes I think can be confusing.
